HIA Passenger Traffic Remain Up
Total number of passengers for April 2017 is up 4.7% over April 2016, and 2017 YTD passenger numbers are 8.5% over 2016 YTD. Looking ahead to the summer months, the airport expects traffic to be at or near 2016 levels.” said Timothy Edwards, Executive Director.
Major Project Updates
- The airfield work for the rehabilitation of the runway at HIA began on April 23rd.
- The building demolition of the belly cargo hangar has been completed, and the entire work site for the Select Transport Hangar Project has been isolated to landside with a temporary construction fence.
- The excavating contractor for the Shaner Hotel Project mobilized on May 22nd, and should have a site-ready pad for High Construction to build on by mid-July 2017.
- The contractor for the AVFlight Hangar Project mobilized on May 17th and the temporary construction fence has been installed around the site.
Equipment
SARAA has approved equipment purchases in the amount of $62,759 for the purchases of a mast lift replacement, an airfield & landside heavy rescue truck, and a self-contained compactor.
HIA Swears In New Police Lieutenant
Lieutenant Stephen Kiessling will take the oath of office at today’s SARAA Board Meeting. Lt. Kiessling is originally from Williamsport, PA and served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He was a County Correctional Officer in Williamsport, and in 1990 joined the Pennsylvania State Police, and retired after 27 years of service. We welcome Lt. Kiessling to HIA and wish him much success!
